Happy APAC month! What is APAC, you ask? It’s deemed the official month where we celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage!

We stand by our Asian community and wish to celebrate them with love, while also supporting the community where we can. To do this, we first want to highlight the organization, Stop AAPI Hate. Please report any incidents on this site and remember to act now!  You can also donate to their GoFundMe page. We want to share ways to get involved and how to donate to organizations!

Get Involved

AADP is dedicated to saving lives and you can help! Register to be a donor today by requesting a home test kit.

This nonprofit was founded in 1989, when two patients, Amanda Chaing and Jang Berkoltz, were unable to find a match with only 123 Asian donors listed on the National Registry. This was a big turning point for them after realizing the shortage of Asian donors and urged to recruit folks to become registered donors. While the recruitment was successful with more than 2,000 people, no matches were found. This unfortunate death gave hopeful light at the end of the tunnel for the program to give a new life to others in need.

Compassion in Oakland

Compassion in Oakland was formed as a response to the rise in anti-Asian attacks, particularly in the Bay Area. Jacob Azevedo grew tired of the violence and posted to social media offering to chaperone anyone in Oakland’s Chinatown neighborhood to help put their fear at ease. Little did he know, this post would go viral with hundreds of messages asking to join him. From there, a beautiful community was born.

We encourage you to check out their website for volunteer information including a few volunteer job roles (copywriter, social media coordinator, and content creator). You can also donate, funds go to items such as safety supplies or ads to raise awareness.

Asian Pacific Fund

Their mission is to strengthen the Asian and Pacific Islander community in the Bay Area by supporting organizations that serve those who are most vulnerable. What does that mean, exactly? You can read more about all that they do here. There are many ways you can make an impact, so let’s start uplifting our fellow community!

Chinatown CDC

An organization that helps in supporting the elderly community of Chinatown, as well as the neighboring Tenderloin and North Beach community.

“We are a community development organization with many roles – as neighborhood advocates, organizers and planners, and as developers and managers of affordable housing. We believe in a comprehensive vision of community, a quality environment, a healthy neighborhood economy, and active voluntary associations. We are committed to the empowerment of low-income residents, diversity and coalition building, and social and economic justice.”

Omsòm, a Vietnamese phrase that translates to noisy and rambunctious! The story couldn’t be any sweeter, owned by two sisters, Kim and Vanessa Pham, whose parents are Vietnamese refugees. They grew up in the kitchen taste testing all the fabulous meals their mother would cook for them, punched with flavor and spice! So, what do they make? Delicious sauces. Check out the full collection in all of its glory. They have sampler packs and even have choices for those who are vegan or gluten-free! As if you aren’t already sold on the sauce piece, they also have a blog where they post recipes!
